Some quick thoughts...

Got to check out the rest of my classes today. Professors continued to be legit. I think imma really enjoy my GRG 336, Contemporary Cultural Geography class. It's really small so we're probably gonna do a lot of discussing. Plus it's a writing component.

I am a little worried that I got a lot of classes which will involve writing. I like to "write" but blogging =/= scholarly writing lol. I fear that a lot of my blogging tendencies will translate to my research papers and it's gonna result in one hot mess!

Other than that, I'm doing good. Just busy trying to get my life in order! I did meet up with one of my old bosses today. It was cool catching up. She's definitely one of the better bosses that I've ever had. Let's me be ME without having to confine me. And you know that when I'm free to do me, I'm unstoppable haha

What else, oh yeah...Michael Vick got his first in-game action on Thursday with the Eagles in their preseason game. He went 4-4 for 19 yards. Not bad, not bad at all. Dude came out on the field from prison after two years off and still looked better than Vince Young lol. It's sad. Vince Young is great because of what he did in college and he's definitely one of the greatest college players of all time but as a QB in the NFL, dude is bunz **SMH** Three years in the league and his throwing form still hasn't improved much and he still struggles with his accuracy.

I fear that he'll approach Roy Williams (former Cowboys safety, now with the Bengals) status pretty soon. Living off his reputation and name when the skill level just isn't there. I hope VY gets it together though.

As for Vick, I really never talked about him here. I think what he did was wrong and he certainly should have been punished in some way, shape or form but I did think that his punishment was a little extreme. In most cases, celebrities/professional athletes get off the hook for whatever "crimes" they commit. We see it all the time. Slap on the wrist. I think people wanted to make an example out of Michael Vick, so he kinda became the scapegoat.

I think dogfighting is horrible but the sad reality is that for many people in America, it is part of a culture. Many folks have dogfights in their neighborhoods just like Vick did with his crew. Unfortunately for Vick, it caught up to him and like mentioned, they had to make an example out of him.

If there's one thing for sure about this country, it's that you DON'T mess with people and their dogs. The same people who dress up dogs (you ever go to a pet store like Pets Mart? They got an entire aisle devoted to canine clothing lol) and treat these pets almost like people.

I'm glad Vick is back in the NFL. He served his time, went through his punishment so I don't think anyone can say that he should be outlawed from the NFL. What more could you want? He went through the legal system just like anyone else and now he's out. You think he should still be in jail? Take that to D.C. and complain with them. Don't hate on Vick for that.

Alright, take care, I'm out!
