An expensive week!

Damn this week has been costing me a lot of money!

I understand this time of year normally hits your wallet hard but this year it seems harder than ever haha. I owed my roommate like 2 months' worth of rent and before the summer even started, I wrote him a check for like $800 and he didn't deposit it.

So there I was in July and early August, content and happy with my bank account's status. Then we start school and BAM! $1700 gets deducted once my roommate deposits all the money I gave him for my part of the rent. Then BAM! Textbooks and course packets so far have cost me a total of $300+ and still counting, because I'm holding off on some books for now b/c I might not even need it.

Ultimately though, my bank account just decreased by 2G's within the span of like a week :-( I knew it was coming, which is why I wanted it to happen quickly so I could get a chance to get going, hustling, and start building it up again :-D

So yesss...the grind begins again.

In other news...

I went to HEB today. Copped some decent groceries. I try to keep my grocery shopping as balanced as possible. I got the basics for survival and cooking, like bread, milk, eggs, ground beef, and some different veggies. But I also have my fair share of "junk food" I guess. Not A LOT, but just enough to keep me sane.

Some people are all about nutrition and health and I admire that, I really do. In fact, I try to eat as healthy as I can most of the time. But to completely eliminate junk food from my diet is just impossible for me. I do my best to eat right but then I have a couple of cheat days during the week which keep me sane. I think it's OK to eat those foods in moderation. As long as you can control yourself, you'll be fine. Plus, I'll end up running it off when I do some cardio exercises anyway, so it's all good!

Freaky stuff though...

One more story for my eventful Monday...and it literally just happened a few hours ago. I was walking home from the library at night and got back to my crib. I sat down at my desk in my room like normal, right? Well a couple minutes later, I see this little blur on my right shoulder. Initially, I think it's just like a strand of hair or lint or something like that. So I move my hand to brush it off. Then, I focus in on it, just like when you go to the optometrist and they focus the lens you look through for your eyes, and it turns out that it's a big-a$$ cricket!!

Now folks, don't go thinking I'm some grown man who is scared of insects or anything like that. I'm not, usually. But when they are in my area of habitation, where I spend most of my days, where I sleep, eat, laugh, cry, study, etc. Seeing a cricket in MY comfort zone just freaks me out.

Y'all should have SEEN me, I tried to get this thang off me as fast as I could. I started brushing my shoulders off, shimmy-ing back-and-forth, you would've thought I was doing the Harlem Shake or somethin!

Then I chased the thing down, like a predator in the wild, and gave it a slight tap with my shoe. I had it on the ground, wounded, but still alive. It was moving around but I'm sure it knew its clock was ticking. Then, with my right shoe (some cheap athletic shoe I copped from Academy Sports and Outdoors in '06), I gave it the ol' "curb stomp" like Ed Norton in that scene from American History X :-(

Lights out. Game over.

It was a grimy scene but it was done. I took the remains and flushed it down the toilet, ridding myself of any evidence before authorities came. Then I took some surface cleaner and scrubbed the floor diligently, as to make sure forensics couldn't trace the crime scene.

I apologize to everyone who doesn't believe in what I did, but I had to do it :-(
